The properties which the Trust now owns are all in Pembrokeshire where Harriet enjoyed her holidays, and are fully adapted and equipped with a range of aids which enable the children to be cared for as they would be at home.
The main requirement when planning the adaptations and provision of aids for the first three houses was to ensure that those who are wheelchair users, to whom priority is given, could move or be moved within the property. The fourth house has been designed to provide a safe and secure environment. The Trustees wished to provide accommodation of the highest standard to ensure that the stay in the houses was as pleasurable as possible.
The Trust was originally established to purchase and adapt Upper Albion, 'Harriet's House' in Castle Square, Tenby as it was the intention of the founders to provide the one house in Harriet's memory, however such was the demand from families that a second house, 'Giltar View' was purchased and adapted. The third house, 'The Wheelabout' was purpose built and opened in 2002. Caerwen in Narberth was opened in 2007. |
